The Philadelphia Flyers took on the Carolina Hurricanes Saturday night at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Dan Vladar got the start in net. Jett Luchanko and Oliver Bonk made their playoff debuts, with Matvei Michkov and Emil Andrae becoming healthy scratches. The Flyers season came to an end with a three-to-two overtime loss. They had their chances throughout the night, and Vladar stood on his head, but they just couldn’t keep their season alive.

Tyson Foerster gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead at the 7:50 mark of the first period. He took a great pass from Trevor Zegras, who was along the boards, and he put a snapshot past the glove of Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen from just inside the right circle. Zegras and Porter Martone tallied assists.

The Hurricanes got the game’s first power play at the 11:32 mark of the first as Martone was called for hooking. They didn’t record any shots on net, but they missed on a few shots wide. The Flyers were also able to clear the puck down a few times.

Jordan Martinook got called for interference at the 14:26 mark of the first period, which gave the Flyers their first power play. They didn’t record any shots on net, but Zegras hit the outside of the post with a shot. The Hurricanes’ penalty kill was aggressive, so it made things moving the puck around difficult.

Sean Couturier was called for hooking at the 4:16 mark of the second period. This gave the Hurricanes their second power play. They moved the puck around very well and had a few good scoring chances. Vladar made saves on Shayne Gostisbehere and Sean Walker, and the Flyers blocked a few shots.

The Flyers went on their second man advantage at the 7:22 mark of the second as Jordan Staal got called for tripping. They only ended up getting one shot on net, but would receive a two-man advantage (five-on-three) as Sebastian Aho was called for hooking at the 8:42 mark. Andersen ended up only having to make one save on Martone, and a few Flyers missed on shots wide. The Hurricanes managed to clear the puck down a few times as well.

With 22 seconds on the power play, Rasmus Ristolainen got called for interference. This made the game go to four-on-four, and then the Hurricanes would get an abbreviated power play. Vladar came up with huge saves on Andrei Svechnikov and Blake, and the Flyers did their job of clearing the puck down when given the opportunity.

Blake tied the game up at one for the Hurricanes at the 12:35 mark of the second period. He took a pass from K’Andre Miller and put a wrist shot from the boards over the glove of Vladar. It looked to have gone off Jamie Drysdale in front. Miller and Taylor Hall picked up assists.

The Hurricanes took a 2-1 lead at the 4:13 mark of the third period courtesy of Logan Stankoven. He took an across-ice pass from Hall and put a wrist shot over the glove of Vladar as he was driving the net. Hall and Blake collected assists.

Alex Bump tied the game up at two for the Flyers at the 5:52 mark of the third. Travis Konecny, from behind the net, found Bump in the slot, and he put a snapshot past the glove of Andersen. Konecny and Christian Dvorak were given assists.

No one else scored in regulation, so the game went to overtime.

Blake won the game for the Hurricanes at the 5:31 mark of the overtime period. Hall fed him a pass to the slot, and he put a wrist shot off Vladar’s glove and into the net. Assists went to Hall and Jaccob Slavin.

Flyers went zero for three on the power play and killed off all three of the Hurricanes’ man advantages.

Vladar saved 37 of 40 shots, giving him a .925 save percentage.
