Trevor Zegras will re-sign with the Flyers, similar to how Dan Vladar was retained, a five-year deal at least. Vladar’s new deal will be made official on July 1st.

Current Status
- Trevor Zegras (RFA, age 25): Traded from Anaheim to Philly in June 2025. His prior 3-year deal ($5.75M AAV) expired after the 2025-26 season. He’s now a restricted free agent eligible for an extension. No signing announced yet, but talks have been positive.
- Dan Vladar: Signed a 2-year, $6.7M contract ($3.35M AAV) with the Flyers in July 2025. There have been discussions about a further extension (e.g., potentially 5 years), as he’s performed well and both sides seem interested.
Why Zegras is likely to stay
- Zegras has expressed strong desire to remain in Philly long-term. In exit interviews, he said something like: “I would love to be here for a long time.”
- He had a solid/resurgent season with the Flyers after the trade, fitting into their system and contributing to their improvement.
- The Flyers control his rights as an RFA, as Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere and the organization view him as a key piece.
- Analysts widely project a long-term extension (e.g., 5–8 years at ~$7.5M–$9.5M AAV, with many leaning toward 7–8 years / ~$8M–$9M). A deal in that range would lock him up through his prime.

Bottom line:
Everything points to Zegras staying — mutual interest, on-ice fit, and cap flexibility for the Flyers. It could get done before or shortly after July 1 free agency opens, just as the organization has prioritized retaining core talent like Vladar. No guarantees until it’s official, but the signs are very positive. Flyers fans have good reason to be optimistic.
With Vladar re-signed, the focus will now shift to Zegras and the Flyers getting a deal done shortly.
