The Flyers are in the midst of a youth infused season. Finally, we are seeing some of the hidden talents that have been stockpiled in various leagues throughout the world trickling into the big club. Of course, young players will make their fair share of mistakes; however, should they learn from them and continue to grow, a young and talented Flyers team will also become a dangerous one in the future.

Morgan Frost became the eighth Flyers rookie to suit up for the big club this season last night against the Florida Panthers. The Flyers offense has been inconsistent as of late, and recalling Frost was a bit of a desperation move by Chick Fletcher to re-ignite the stagnant offense. One game they score three goals, the next game they score just one goal. Hopefully, Frost corrects this inconsistency, and is able to produce as a first line Center in the NHL (For the time being).

What an NHL debut it was for the young man in Frost. He left people “Frost” bitten in South Florida. Maybe it was the food that his dad makes for him that got him so amped-up, “My dad does all the cooking, thanks for that dad,” Frost told me at training camp. His dad, Andy Frost, was in the crowd cheering loud and proud for his son Morgan in his NHL debut.

Morgan, didn’t disappoint his family in attendance, nor the proud orange clad fans that made the trek to South Florida. Frost put on a show for the ages, as he potted a beautiful goal past former Vezina Trophy neinder Sergei Bobrovsky. He razzled and dazzled, then went, “Top shelf where momma hides the cookies.” Check out this clip from Ricky Brown (@rickybrown) from @flyersknitty:

Frost had some things to work on at the AHL level, before he becomes a permanent fixture with the orange and black. For instance, pushing the play, and being physical enough to handle the rigors of an 82 game season in the NHL. Frost worked hard in the summer, weight wise, for physicality purposes. Moreover, he also looked good with the pace of game against the Panthers, as well. It’s a small sample size to say he has effectively improved in these areas, however, it is encouraging to say the least.

The truth of the matter is, the more Frost produces, the less likely it becomes that he gets sent back to the Phantoms, presumably Saturday if Scott Laughton returns. Unfortunately, the Flyers offense has been inconsistent here as of late, and with Frost producing it then becomes too tough to send him back.

Frost appears to be a natural, and a player that knows how to score goals. He looked very good his NHL debut, especially with the way he carried the puck up the ice. He just looked comfortable out on the ice. This young man in Frost might be here past Saturday, if he keeps producing like he did in his NHL debut. Whatever the case maybe, Frost maybe what the doctor ordered, offensive wise, for this young Flyers team.
