The Flyers are in the midst of a youth infused season. Finally, we are seeing some of the hidden talents that have been stockpiled in various leagues throughout the world trickling into the big club. Of course, young players will make their fair share of mistakes; however, should they learn from them and continue to grow, a young and talented Flyers team will also become a dangerous one in the future.

Morgan Frost became the eighth Flyers rookie to suit up for the big club this season last night against the Florida Panthers. However, Frost was sent back to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms last week, and he has torched his opponents enough there to earn a bid to the AHL All-Star Game in California to represent the Phantoms. What an honor this is for the young Frost. For the season, Frost has five goals, and seven assists in 12 games played for the Phantoms.

What an NHL debut it was for the young man in Frost, as well. He left people “Frost” bitten in South Florida. Morgan, didn’t disappoint his family in attendance, nor the proud orange clad fans that made the trek to South Florida. Frost put on a show for the ages, as he potted a beautiful goal past former Vezina Trophy neinder Sergei Bobrovsky. He razzled and dazzled, then went, “Top shelf where momma hides the cookies.” Check out this clip from Ricky Brown (@rickybrown) from @flyersknitty:

Frost had some things to work on at the AHL level, before he becomes a permanent fixture with the orange and black. For instance, pushing the play, and being physical enough to handle the rigors of an 82 game season in the NHL. Frost worked hard in the summer, weight wise, for physicality purposes. Moreover, he also looked good with the pace of game against the Panthers, as well. It’s a small sample size to say he has effectively improved in these areas, however, it is encouraging to say the least.

The truth of the matter is, the more Frost produces, the more it would become apparent for a call-up. Unfortunately, the Flyers offense has been inconsistent here as of late, and if that continues Frost could find himself back with the big club sooner rather than later.

Frost appears to be a natural, and a player that knows how to score goals. He looked very good his NHL debut, especially with the way he carried the puck up the ice. Whatever the case maybe, Frost maybe what the doctor ordered, offensive wise, for this young Flyers team in the future.

  1. Frost must be put true Sean Couturier”s face-off-school, because they are both lefty”s! Morgan Frost would get crucial help, if he can win face-off”s much more often, and as a result his game would jump to an different level!, when he could just use his skills, and not have to grind puck back with a lot of effort!
