The Flyers go down to the Canadiens to a score of 5-3. A tough matchup this series has been, and the Canadiens show they will not go down without a fight. Let’s get right into the three takeaways.

A game of hitting

The bodies were out for bruising, and especially in the first period. As soon as the puck dropped, the Flyers and Canadiens went back and forth in the hitting department. This set up for a physical game 5. Pitlick throws a huge check that knocks a Philip Danault flat on his back. Also, Brendan Gallagher tempted Ivan Provorov to drop the gloves only a few shifts into the game. Let’s get ready for a “slobber-knocker” Flyers fans.

“Very Special teams”

After what feels like a whole series, the Power Play connects for three Power Play goals, two that were by Jake Voracek, and one by Joel Farabee. During a five minute major, the Flyers were able to connect on two of the three Power Play goals. Although, the Montreal Canadiens were able to punch a short-handed goal, and a Power Play goal of their own. Specials Teams played a huge factor in the outcome of this game.

“Some Leaky defense”

What was the strongest part of the Flyers game this entire series, it certainly cost them in game 5. Bad turnovers down low turned this game from a 3-3 tie, to being down by 1. Late in the third period it looked like the puck was difficult to control, the Flyers also allowed too much space for the Canadiens. Simply put, the Flyers defense was not as strong in this game. The defense will have to get back to par if they want to continue on an extended playoff run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

“Jake Voracek came with his dancing pants on” -Bill Clement

Carter Hart:

“We battled back, and obviously I gotta make a couple of more saves.”

Jake Voracek:

“We got to play better.”

Matt Niskanen:

Niskanen:

“We were a half of step behind.”

Alain Vigneault:

“He will be fine for next game.”

Vigneault said he looked at Carter Hart in the eyes, and kept him in.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it
