Porter Martone, Denver Barkey, Alex Bump, Oliver Bonk, and Maksim Sokolovskii stand out as five key players to watch at the Flyers’ 2026 Rookie Camp (which opens around September 11, with games vs. Rangers prospects on Sept. 12–13 at PPL Center in Allentown).
Here’s a quick look at each:
- Porter Martone (W): The clear headliner and Number six overall pick in the 2025 Draft. He made an immediate impact late last season (including the playoffs) and retains rookie eligibility. Expect him to lead the charge; he’s projected for a big NHL role and is a Calder Trophy candidate. Fans will be watching him closely.
- Denver Barkey (W/C): The most NHL-experienced player in camp (43 regular-season games + 10 playoff games last year). He’s competitive and physical for his size, aiming to lock down a full-time NHL roster spot. He treats every game like a high-stakes contest.
- Alex Bump (W): Impressed in a late-season call-up (9 points in 17 regular-season games + playoff production). He’s better prepared this year and is pushing hard for an opening-night NHL role after falling short of final cuts previously.
- Oliver Bonk (RHD): The 2023 first-rounder is the most polished defenseman in camp. He overcame injury setbacks last year, saw limited NHL action (including playoffs), and could challenge for a roster spot. The organization trusts him in big moments.
- Maksim Sokolovskii (LHD): The towering 6-foot-7, ~230–240 lb 2026 first-round pick (27th overall). He’s a long-term project who impressed with his size, mobility, and tools at Development Camp. This is an early look before he returns to junior (OHL’s London Knights); he’s hard to miss on the ice.
Other notables from the official “Who’s Who” and coverage include Jett Luchanko (recovering from core surgery and looking to reassert himself offensively) and Ty Murchison (defensive defenseman with recent NHL experience). The camp features players with recent NHL/playoff time mixed with newer prospects, so the focus is on those pushing for roles or showing developmental progress.
