Jason Myrtetus, the longtime Flyers radio host and Flyers Daily podcast voice, just shared a tough update on Tuesday night. His colorectal cancer has returned and progressed to stage 4, now metastatic to the lungs. His CEA marker has spiked dramatically, and a full PET scan is upcoming to map things out.

Myrtetus is facing this with the same fighter’s mentality he’s always shown—drawing on hockey grit, staying positive about treatment options (chemo ahead), and planning to keep working and living fully. The data gives a range, but he’s made it clear he’s not a statistic and intends to battle hard.

Thoughts and prayers going out to Jason, his wife Angela, their three kids, and everyone who loves him. He’s touched a lot of people in the hockey world and beyond with his honesty and resilience. Elbows up, Jason. Keep fighting.

We will be with you every step of the way. Jason has always been kind to me when I’m around the rink, from interactions and post game media scrums. Myrtetus and I talked highly of Matvei Michkov when he played in the Rookie Game two years ago, and talked about the losses of my family, as well. Myrtetus is the definition of a class act, and we are here for him.

  1. A class guy all around for sure. Smart, kind, funny, and he knows his Flyers hockey inside and out. He’s well loved and respected in this town and it’s all very much deserved.
