And the offseason continues with some intriguing names still on the market like goalscorers such as Anthony Duclair and Mike Hoffman, not to mention players like Josh Leivo or Matt Martin for physicality purposes. The Flyers have at least one more move to make, whether it’s via trade or in free agency. Without further delay here are our answers to your questions.

If both Nolan Patrick and Oskar Lindblom are 100%. Here are how I see the lines:

G, Coots, TK

Lindblom, Hayes, Voracek

JvR, Patrick, Farabee

Raffl, Laughton, NAK

I think these lines would be pretty balanced, and in the event the second line is too much to ask for Oskar Lindblom. One could interchange JvR and Lindblom thus forcing those two lines to this as shown below:

2nd line: JvR, Hayes, Voracek

3rd line: Lindblom, Patrick, Farabee

In reality the Flyers had some spots available with Derek Grant, Nate Thompson, and Tyler Pitlick signing elsewhere.

Claude Giroux currently sits with 815 career NHL points (257g, 558a). If Giroux sniffs 1,100 career points he should be a shoo-in for the Hockey Hall of Fame.

At this particular time, Giroux would definitely be in the Flyers Hall of Fame, but he has a little more work to do to be considered for the Hockey Hall of Fame.

MacKenzie Weegar is and will be one heck of a player. He is, as you mention, a Right-Handed Defenceman that has a ton of skill. I do not believe the Florida Panthers would want Shayne Gostisbehere via trade for Weegar, rather the Panthers would like a Forward in return. They lost the services of Evgenii Dadonov, and could possibly lose the services of Mike Hoffman, as well. That’s a ton of goals lost by two departing players possibly (If Hoffman does indeed sign elsewhere), 54 to be exact.

I do have credible information that the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, and Vancouver Canucks have been amongst the most interested teams over the course of the past few weeks for Weegar’s services. The Flyers have what the Panthers would like, but will Chuck Fletcher be willing to meet the price of what the Panthers would like for Weegar. Weegar should be able to fetch a contract of at least $4 million or higher, which Fletcher could workout depending who moves the other way.

2 thoughts on “Flyers Weekly Mailbag: Could Ghost Be Traded For MacKenzie Weegar? Lines With A Healthy Oskar Lindblom And Nolan Patrick, Is Claude Giroux A Hall Of Famer?

  1. With a projected lineup of:
    G, Coots, TK

    Lindblom, Hayes, Voracek

    JvR, Patrick, Farabee

    Raffl, Laughton, NAK

We’re does Morgan Frost sit…phantoms…how about later in the year..who do they leave out the lineup to make room for him?

  2. Ghost for Weegar would be great, but i would trade Ghost if possible to draft picks or/and prospects, in order to have cap space! Also Morgan Frost is coming up next season, and thus needs to have place in our line-up! So we should seriously think of moving one of our older forwards, like Voracek or JVR to make room for our up coming talents!
