The Flyers are down 0-2 in their Eastern Conference Second Round series against the top-seeded Carolina Hurricanes (after a 3-0 loss in Game 1 and a tough 3-2 OT loss in Game 2). Game 3 is tonight (Thursday, May 7, 8:00 PM ET) at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia on TNT/truTV.

Why they can avoid going 0-3:

Home Advantage:

The series shifts to Philly, where the Flyers have playoff momentum from their first-round comeback win over the Penguins (they trailed 2-3 before closing it out). Crowds at Xfinity should be loud and give them a boost.

Goaltending has been solid: Dan Vladar has kept them in games despite Carolina’s strong play. Frederik Andersen has been excellent for CAR, but Philly can generate enough chances (especially at home) to solve him. They’ve shown fight: They pushed Game 2 to OT on the road. This isn’t a sweep-prone team—they upset Pittsburgh and have the resilience (plus history with big comebacks, like the famous 2010 run).

Carolina is beatable: The Hurricanes are 6-0 this postseason and dominant, but no team is invincible. If Philly tightens up defensively, gets their power play going, and capitalizes on home ice, a win is very possible.

Realistically, Carolina remains the heavy favorite to win the series. The Flyers know they are underdogs, but avoiding 0-3 is very doable tonight—one strong home performance can shift momentum.

The Flyers can (and should) avoid going down 0-3 with a good effort in Game 3. It’s a must-win, and home ice makes it feasible.

Let’s see if they deliver. Go Flyers!
