Morgan Frost was rewarded with a new two-year contract worth $4.2 million ($2.1 million AAV) this past offseason. This was a great deal for both Frost and the Flyers. He didn’t want to miss one day of camp, thus getting on the bad side of John Tortorella. Unfortunately, Frost has been benched numerous times this season, and each time it happens one thinks “Not again”. It appears that it has made him a better hockey player in the end, as he now has seven points in the past five games played (3g,4a).

The good thing is, Frost appeared to have gained much confidence after having a meeting with Tortorella back in January. He seems to have found his niche and placement in the NHL. Frost continues to make skill play after skill play, and threading passes that this team desperately needs. Below is a great clip of him trying to score in between his legs for the second consecutive game, thus Travis Konecny scoops up the trash for a goal.

Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella said that Frost wanted to have a meeting with him a few months ago, as to exactly why he was/is constantly getting benched. Tortorella was thrilled that Frost came to his office and wanted to have a meeting, “I met with Frosty today. It’s a big step for Frosty. He came to me for a meeting,” Tortorella said. “Today was a good honest conversation of what’s happening now, and kind of big picture stuff. I was thrilled he wanted to come in. He gave me some of his thoughts.”

“I know I got to be better. I don’t think by any stretch of imagination I’ve had a good season thus far, it’s all on me I take responsibility for it. Play with more consistency and energy like I did today.” – Morgan Frost

Morgan Frost has some renewed confidence since his meeting with Tortorella. He has two goals and five assists in seven games since his meeting with him, as stated above. Frost just looks more confident, loose, and has that swag back that he had last year, “Just go to last game, he created a lot of offense, he made a lot of plays. I think he’s been more consistent that way, creating offense. He needs to play away from the puck, but I want him to create offense. He’s been more consistent that way,” Tortorella said before the Dallas game.

He’s just oozing with confidence and it’s seen with his hockey vision. Frost is threading some beautiful passed to his teammates, and has been engaged with the offense since his meeting with Tortorella. This has enabled him to play with more pace, and that’s an area that Tortorella wanted him to improve upon.

Frost relates to everyone in Philly, especially with the fondness he has for all the support he has been getting from his family and friends, and he recalls playing in Toronto as a member of the orange and black, “It was super cool, anytime I get to go back to that building is cool. There were people there I didn’t know were coming, to see all the love and support it’s super cool,” Frost said in an exclusive one-on-one interview with Jamey Baskow.

He continues, “I’ve said this before on record, I don’t think my parents ever said I had a bad game. To see the support and love they have for me is super cool.”

Frost was asked to play with more pace, ✅. Tortorella even gave Frost kudos before the Carolina game stating that he’s been happy with this play, and that he’s making some nice plays.

This young man in Frost is a young player that is supposed to have top six abilities. Former Flyers’ General Manager Chuck Fletcher originally said he didn’t want Frost to be a yo-yo, and if he was recalled to the Flyers then Frost would be up for good. Well, well, well, he was treated like a yo-yo at times in 2021-22, so much for that. In hindsight what it did was give Frost more experience, and that’s something that Frost didn’t take lightly, “Obviously, there’s highs and lows during the season where maybe you’re not really sure if you feel that way, but I think towards the end of the year, definitely I’m starting to feel a lot more comfortable,” said Frost. “I think at this point, I can say I feel confident saying I feel like an NHL player.”

In saying that, maybe he has an extra jump in his skates due to a certain sub he likes, “Turkey, bacon, BLT or something (He said laughing). I’d like to know what a hero (Hoagie or sub) is?!!!”.
