As much as people downed Konecny last year, I believe that he used that negativity to better himself this year and really help out the team. Unfortunately, Travis is again out tonight, and the Flyers will not provide a proper update until he’s properly diagnosed.

Nonetheless, Travis’ teammates speak very highly of him:

“TK is an unbelievable player. He’s an all-star player in this league. He’s arguably our best player, and last year – stats aren’t always a big picture. I’m sure he thinks about it, it’s written about, it’s talked about. I don’t think he’s done anything too drastic to change. I think his energy’s always there; he’s always kind of a rat, and when he scores goals and he’s being himself it just adds to his fuel, and it makes him look that much better. He knows he’s a great player, everyone in this league knows he’s a really good player. It’s great that he’s off to a hot start and hopefully it keeps going.” – Kevin Hayes

I think most of us can agree with Kevin that Travis is an All-Star player when he is playing with confidence. As the season wears on, everyone is excited to see more of TK, “I just like his energy,” John Tortorella says. “We kind of switched up the PK pairs tonight trying to get him more time. He has had a really good camp. He is just one of those players that you are looking to put in all situations. He just has so much pride in his game, you can’t help but look at that.”

Torts continued to rave about Travis Konecny, “He had a great camp. He is an important guy, especially with some of the injuries we have here. He has taken on a lot of the ice time where maybe Cam takes some of that and Coots. He has been good.”

Konecny is off to a great start to the season, and has new career high in goals with 27, and points (54). It’s very unfortunate he will not be in the lineup tonight, per John Tortorella.

The injuries just continue to pile up once again for the Flyers this season: Sean Couturier, Ryan Ellis, Cam Atkinson, and Tanner Laczynski are out with injuries or season ending injuries. Make no mistake about this the Flyers have a tall task tonight while missing their best play driving forward in Konecny.

Joel Farabee clears the air

News broke yesterday from Frank Seravalli that Joel Farabee’s camp has not liked the way Flyers Head Coach John Tortorella has handled Farabee this season.

Context on Joel Farabee:

“Farabee’s camp has voiced their displeasure to the Flyers as to how this season has unfolded under coach John Tortorella.” – Frank Seravalli

Farabee said he is not aware of such, and said, “You see stuff on Twitter, and people start tweeting. It goes down a rabbit hole after that, so I wouldn’t read too much into it.” He continued to elaborate:

“I love playing here, I love this city. I have no complaints.” – Joel Farabee said after morning skate before the Habs game on 2-24-2023

This young man owned his bad play, and what fans have to keep in mind is he did not have an offseason to properly train with building muscle and condition himself for the rigors of an 82 game season with offseason back/neck surgery, “I’m not the biggest guy out there. I didn’t want to miss any time. I wanted to get back as soon as possible. I felt I was conditioned, not building up full weight over a full offseason hasn’t helped. No excuse, my play I have to be better.”

Folks he’s 23-years-old, he will rebound next season and kill it. Farabee already had one 20 goal season, let’s give him the benefit of the doubt here.
