Alex Bump has been loaned/assigned back to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

This is the latest move (reported November 2, 2026). He had previously been sent down on October 7, 2026, to clear a roster spot after the Flyers signed veteran winger Michael Bunting. At that time, the 22-year-old (a 2022 fifth-round pick) was scoreless in his first three NHL games of the 2026-27 season, had been a healthy scratch, and was the odd man out with Denver Barkey returning from injury.
nbcsportsphiladelphia.comBump responded strongly in the AHL: he scored in each of his first five games with the Phantoms (7 goals, 8 points), earned AHL Player of the Week honors, and was recalled by the Flyers around October 19. He then appeared in additional NHL games (still without points in limited action this season overall) before being loaned back to Lehigh Valley again.

Bump had a strong late-season/call-up stretch with the Flyers last year (5 goals, 9 points in 17 regular-season games + 2 goals in 6 playoff games) after starring in college at Western Michigan (NCAA champion) and putting up solid AHL numbers with the Phantoms. The recent demotions appear aimed at getting him more consistent ice time and development rather than riding the bench.
