The Flyers placed forward Garrett Wilson on waivers today (October 22, 2026).
The official team announcement states: “The Philadelphia Flyers today announced that the team has placed forward Garrett Wilson on waivers.” He is a 35-year-old left wing (born March 16, 1991) who signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Flyers in late September 2026 (AAV around $850K). He has appeared in just two of the team’s first nine games this season (0 points, -2 rating).
If he clears waivers, he is expected to report to the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms (where he has long been a key player and Captain). This move creates roster flexibility, likely ahead of one or more injured players (such as Owen Tippett, Travis Konecny, Cam York, or Rasmus Ristolainen) potentially coming off injured reserve. York and Ristolainen have been rehab skating.
Wilson is a veteran depth forward/enforcer known for physical play. He has limited NHL experience overall (career: 2 goals and 6 assists in 89 games across stints with Florida, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia) but extensive AHL time.
