Who is Ryan Marker? What does he look like? Well, folks Ryan “Magic” Marker is a heck of a goal scorer. The Delaware Thunder’s nickname for Marker is “Magic” for good reason. Not only is Marker a natural goal scorer, he’s the leading point producer for a young Thunder team with 47 points in 23 games played.

The accolades just keep pouring in on this story book season for Marker. Yesterday, Marker was announced by the FPHL (Federal Prospects Hockey League), as the rookie of month for the month of December. He tallied a whopping 19 points in 9 games played (9g,10a), and for his efforts Marker is now the leading scorer in the FPHL. Talk about a month, good gosh, “Deck the Halls,” why don’t you Marker!!!

Marker has evolved into a leader on and off the ice, much like Charlie Pens JR, for this young Thunder team. Need a big goal, Marker provides it. Need a big Power Play goal, Marker provides it. He just has a natural instinct for the net. Marker knows where to be and when. He doesn’t puck watch, Marker just knows the game of hockey so well, that he takes away the cross ice pass, or the cute passes opponents try to make. In turn, Marker explodes up the ice with the puck for a quick goal, just like that woolah it’s “Magic.”

So just who is Marker, as that was the first question in this article? Marker is a team first guy, a great person, great to the Thunder fans, and just a darn talented hockey player. His awareness on the ice cannot be taken for granted. The next step for this young 25-year-old is the ECHL, sooner rather than later.

  1. Very humble guy with talent through the roof. Every time the puck is on his stick you feel electric because you know a goal is not far away. Great blog Nitty!

    1. Lou,
