Glens Falls, NY – Struck by lighting. The Royals fall 5-1 on a rough Wednesday night in New York. Yvan Mongo netted his fourth in as many games, Mongo has 6 on the season. Former Royal, Colin Felix scored for the Thunder in Adirondacks’ victory.

The only even period in Glens Falls was the first frame. Each team netted a goal in the period, and shots in the period were 10-8 in favor of the Thunder. Patrick Grasso opened the scoring, his sixth of the season unassisted at the 13:53 mark. Yvan Mongo evened the game with his sixth of the season. The Nardi Mongo connection connected again, a backhand finish by Mongo at 17:28. Reading killed off both of the Thunder’s power play chances in the frame.

The Thunder extended their lead to 3-1 in the second. Ryan Orgel netted the first tally for Adirondack; the game-winning goal came at the 8:13 mark. The second Thunder goal came with just 15 seconds left in the period. The former Reading Royal fan favorite, Colin Felix netted his first as a member of the Thunder. The goal against his former club was a big momentum shifter that carried into the third for Adirondack.

The Thunder found twice yet again in the third. The first goal came at 6:44, the power play tally off the stick of Yushiroh Hirano. Erik Middendorf capped off the Thunder victory with his seventh of the season, an even-strength tally goal at 15:02.

Nolan Maier made 23 saves on the 28 Thunder shots he faced in the losing effort. NHL contracted Tyler Brennan to stop 27 of the 28 he faced between the pipes for Adirondack.

Reading heads to Maine for the weekend. They play the Mariners on Black Friday and wrap out the road trip on Saturday, November 25th.
