After a little break from Saturday’s loss, the Flyers are back in action against the New York Rangers, a team who needs to get the win. Carter Hart still out with an injury and Brian Elliott will get that start in his place. How will he do? Let’s get into it.

JVR took a shot off the face for the first goal of the game and boy did it look painful, but certainly counted. Down 1-0, the Flyers most consistent scorer this year notched two goals to lead the charge. The first one, coming off a hard shot and redirected directly off his face and right into the net. Not sure who really deserves the assist there, but it was well worth effort. It was a tough play for the veteran forward, but James also scored a redirect off the stick to make the game 3-1 a bit later and totally changed Rangers momentum for a comeback. A Great game for JVR overall. His game had been solid all year, but deflated as of late as the team struggled as a whole. I’m noticing a change in the wind and JVR is going to get back to the score sheet more often.

Brian Elliott had one stronger performances of the season. With Carter Hart still sitting out with an injury, it is comforting to know that Elliott is capable of putting up strong games. Overall, he had. a great game tonight, full of tremendous saves. Moose saw 35 shots on net and saved 33 of them. Big saves all around and with perfect timing. Something that sticks out to me is, his veteran presence and how it was well on display tonight. After a huge save or a goal he should have had, he always gets ready to help the team. This season especially, the Flyers and the fans know they can count on him when the time has comes.

Unfortunately, Joel Farabee offensive scoring slump continues. Just a few weeks ago, Farabee was the man. He was putting up tremendous numbers and some even compared him to some of the greats in the league with his point per game pace and scoring touch. Time has passed and the stats have balanced out to a more practically, yet impressive, pace. They haven’t changed much and tonight isn’t much different. Farabee got denied on a penalty shot and once again, on a bouncing puck breakaway, dined in close by Rangers goalies, Igor Shesterkin. While Farabee still has a bright and productive future. It’s important to give him time to develop and not focus too much on the ups and downs of a young players development.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
