The Philadelphia Flyers returned to home ice on Wednesday night for Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Dan Vladar got the start in net. Matvei Michkov and Noah Juulsen re-entered the lineup with Emil Andrae and Garnet Hathaway becoming healthy scratches. The Flyers sent the Penguins home with a one-zero victory. Vladar recorded his second shutout of the series, and Cam York won it in overtime. The orange and black will face the Carolina Hurricanes in Round 2.

The Penguins got the game’s first power play at the 11:53 mark of the first period as Jamie Drysdale was called for interference. Vladar made some big saves on Sidney Crosby, Bryan Rust, and Erik Karlsson, and the Flyers played a game of keepaway towards the end. They were able to clear the puck down a few times as well.
The Flyers got their first power play at the 14:41 mark of the first as Noel Acciari got called for holding. Penguins goaltender Arturs Silovs only had to make one save on Porter Martone, and Connor Dewar had a chance while shorthanded, but Vladar made the pad save. There was way too much passing by the Flyers.
Luke Glendening got called for slashing at the 5:34 mark of the second period, which gave the Penguins their second power play. Vladar came up with huge saves on Anthony Mantha and Ben Kindel. Egor Chinakov ended up hitting the post with a shot. Christian Dvorak had a chance while shorthanded, but Silovs made the pad save.

Kris Letang was called for roughing as the horn sounded to end the second period. The Flyers would go on their second man advantage at the beginning of the third period. Silovs only had to make one save on Tyson Foerster, and Michkov missed on a shot above the crossbar. The Penguins made a few nice plays to break up passes and clear the puck down the ice.
No one scored in regulation, so the game went to overtime for the first time in this series. Cam York won the game for the Flyers at the 17:32 mark of the overtime period. He took a backhanded pass from Michkov and put a snapshot past the glove of Silovs from the blue line. Michkov and Noah Cates tallied assists. 1-0 Flyers was the final score.
Flyers went zero for two on the power play and killed off both of the Penguins’ man advantages.
Vladar saved 42 of 42 shots, giving him a 1.000 save percentage.
