The Philadelphia Flyers traveled to Raleigh, North Carolina, to take on the Hurricanes in Game 1 of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Dan Vladar got the start in net. Owen Tippett was out due to an undisclosed injury, so Garnet Hathaway took his place in the lineup. The Flyers were dominated through the first 40 minutes but picked things up in the final 20. However, they couldn’t score any goals and got shut out three-zero. The Hurricanes take a 1-0 lead in the series.

The Hurricanes took a 2-0 lead at the 7:30 mark of the first courtesy of Blake. He took a pass from Taylor Hall, got past Matvei Michkov and Travis Sanheim, and put a backhander through the legs of Vladar on the second attempt. Hall and Reilly picked up assists.
Nick Seeler was called for cross-checking at the 8:34 mark of the first period. This gave the Hurricanes the game’s first power play. The Flyers did a nice job of getting into shooting lanes to block shots, and Shayne Gostisbehere missed a shot wide. No shots on net were recorded.

The Flyers received their third power play at the 2:15 mark of the second period as Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen got called for tripping. Andrei Svechnikov served the penalty. A third straight power play where no shots on net were recorded. Trevor Zegras had a backdoor chance, but Sebastian Aho got a piece of the pass to deflect it. Zegras and Blake also received 10-minute misconducts, which ended their night. Vladar only had to make one save on Aho, and the Flyers did their job of clearing the puck down the ice to waste time.
