Jaidin’s Journal – A Flyby of the Flyers Last 11 Games

The Philadelphia Flyers were phenomenal, where do I begin? Going into the holiday break the orange & black sit at 2nd in the Metro, 3rd in the East, and 8th in the entirety of the National Hockey League. Sam Ersson stepped up big time for a Flyers club with an odd goaltending situation with Carter Hart out with an illness. Ersson posted a record of 5-1-1-0 with a .925 SV% and 2.00 GA. Sam picked up a 32-save shutout against Detroit on December 16th in a 1-0 win.

In the last 10 of 11 games, Philadelphia has been outstanding picking up points in each 10 of their last 11. It all started back on November 30th against the Devils. The Flyers were trailing 3-1 with five minutes to play and goals by Sean Walker and Scott Laughton knotted things up forcing overtime. New Jersey pulled away with the two points on Luke Hughes game winner 28 seconds into overtime.

The first win of the 9-game point streak was pulled off in the shootout against Pittsburgh, a 4-3 win for Philadelphia. Sean Couturier capped off the home-and-home series against the Pens, netting the game-winner in overtime on December 4th. The Flyers made it three in a row with a win in the Copper State, Konecny netted two goals in the Flyers’ 4-1 win over the Coyotes. Following the win in AZ, Philadelphia headed north to Colorado, picking up a huge, 5-2 win over the Avalanche. A tough overtime loss followed in the Music City. Filip Forsberg called the game in a contest where the Flyers outshot the Preds 39-22.

Back home for a couple of wins at WFG (Wells Fargo Center). A back-and-forth battle with Washington resulted in a Flyers 4-3 shootout win. Bobby Brink scored in the contest and netted the shootout-winning goal. Two nights later the Flyers welcomed Detroit to WFG. A huge night for Ersson in a 1-0 Flyers win. Cam York netted the lone tally, and Ersson stopped all 32 he faced. The last Philadelphia win was earned back on the 19th at ‘The Rock.’ Ryan Poehling netted two and Owen Tippett called the game with 1:32 left in overtime. The 9-game point skid came to an end on the 21st as the Flyers hosted the Preds. Philip Tomasino netted two for Nashville, and Frost and Coots scored for Philly in the 4-2 loss.

Capping off this edition of “Jaidin’s Journal” is the wildest game of the year by far. After 20 minutes of play, it looked bleak for Philadelphia, they trailed 5-1 in Carter Hart’s first game back from illness. Despite coming back from the illness it didn’t seem like it was Hart’s fault, yes he was rusty but the defense in front of him hadn’t really shown up. The Flyers fought back in the second gaining momentum off of a Nick Seeler fight, Philly netted two in the frame. With it being 5-3 going into the third the Flyers netted 3 more to go ahead 6-5. Dylan Larkin with an unfortunate bounce on a shot from below the goal line knotted things up at 6 with 4:30 to play. So with things undecided in overtime, a shootout would be needed. Patrick Kane who netted two goals in the first had the game on his stick in the shootout, Kane didn’t disappoint the Red Wings faithful, he fired home the game-winner glove side past Hart.

The loss showed a lot of fight that the Flyers had and you can’t count this team out at all. They came all the way back after trailing by four and not even that, turned up the intensity to outplay a tough team on the road.

Happy Holidays From Jaidin & Flyers Nitty Gritty!

  1. We wish to thank you once again for the stunning ideas you
gave Janet when preparing her own post-graduate research in addition to,
most importantly, regarding providing the many ideas in one blog post.

In case we had been aware of your site a year ago, we would have been saved the nonessential measures we were implementing.
Thank you very much. adults toys
