Flyers Goalie Dan Vladar was a calming presence during Game 2 against the Penguins last night. When Pittsburgh pushed back, he skated over to the bench and told his teammates, “We’re okay” (or “We’re OK”), reassuring the group to stay relaxed and not panic.
“Guys like to play for him. He’s a fun guy to coach, I tell you that,” Flyers Head Coach Rick Tocchet said of Vladar.
Tocchet them elaborated more, “When they were pressing, coming in waves, he would come to the bench and say ‘We’re ok.” Tocchet highlighted it afterward, noting how the big Czech netminder stayed composed even while getting peppered with shots.
Vladar backed it up with a 27-save shutout in a 3-0 win, giving Philly a 2-0 series lead in the first round. Classic goalie leadership—big saves and steady vibes. The Flyers look locked in right now.
