Dan Vladar is expected to start for the Philadelphia Flyers tonight.The Flyers open the 2026-27 season at home against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday, September 30 (7:30 p.m. ET on TNT). Vladar, who dealt with an upper-body injury in the preseason, was cleared and confirmed good to go after practice on Tuesday.
Vladar says he doesn’t mind playing through pain, and the medical staff said he wasn’t playing in the pre-season finale. If it was up to him he would have played. Rick Tocchet did say on WIP this morning that Vladar is good to go, and will start tonight in the opener for the Flyers.
Flyers’ Head Coach Rick Tocchet sounded off on Dan Vladar yesterday after practice, “He kind of gets the guys thinking positive. He’s the positive reinforcement with a little bite to it, which I like.”
Vladar’s the clear Number One after a strong 2025-26 season (29-14-7, 2.42 GAA, .906 SV% in 52 games) and a solid playoff run, plus a new five-year extension. Joseph Woll will serve as his backup.
