After a tough game last night in a 6-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres, the Flyers get their chance to even the series. Let’s get in to it.

“The rough stuff”

As Herb Brooks once said “It’s a game of hittin, boys” and it certainly was to open up the start of this game. The Flyers led 11-3 in the hits department after the first period, and finished with over 37 hits to Buffalo’s 18 for the game. Travis Konecny was there to stir the pot with a few Sabres player along the bench side, if there is one guy to get it going, that’s who you want to do it. That being said, both teams lost players in this one. The Flyers lost Philippe Myers and Morgan Frost due to injury, while Buffalo lost their staring to goaltender Carter Hutton after a collision with Ivan Provorov.  Let’s hope for the best for all players. The physical play early certainly set the tone for this one.

Lindblom-Patrick-TK

It’s the line we all look forward to and they showed it tonight. This line tonight a was the most productive line all game, generating a ton of speed and chances. They also contributed to the Flyers first goal. Nolan Patrick takes the body, and generates a huge first goal of the game. Throwing the puck to Lindblom up the wall, a smooth bounce pass of the boards right to Travis Konecny on a breakaway, finished off with an outrageous goal putting the puck right between the five-hole. Oskar Lindblom and Travis Konecny had great success early last season playing together. Let’s see if that can continue on. Travis Konecny now has four goals already with four games played.

The Moose stands Tall

Carter Hart gets the night off, and Brian Elliott filled in quite nicely. Stopping a ton of quality shots throughout this game. One shot coming in the third period that generates a 2 on 1 for “A Hayes to Voracek” beauty to make the game 2-0 late in the third. Facing 40 shots and stopping them all. It was a great game for Brian Elliott. This is Brian Elliott’s first game that he started this year and it’s the first shutout of the season for the orange and black.
