Flyers fans have something to be excited about and it’s new Head Coach John Tortorella. He was hired June 17th 2022 by the Philadelphia Flyers, as he became the 23rd coach in Flyers history. John is a very experienced coach. He has coached the Tampa Bay Lighting, Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks.
John has a very great past coaching career. He has one Stanley Cup to his resume, which of course he won with the Tampa Bay Lighting in 2004. Tortorella has also made 12 playoff appearances, to include two Jack Adams awards (Given to the best coach). Past players describe him as a tough, but a fair coach, and commands 100% effort from his team. night on and night out.
People are hoping that he brings his experience and toughness to the City of Brotherly Love. With that, people just want to watch a decent hockey team that competes night in and night put, a team that gives complete effort, players that do not take a shift off.
“As I told Chuck in conversations I had with him, I don’t know what I enjoy most, trying to develop the hockey player or trying to develop the person because it’s pretty cool. I’m developing a person in a locker room.” – John Tortorella
