E198 – Hart, Flyers & Prospect Talk (Ft. The Draft Analyst)

Currently, the Philadelphia Flyers fans are running on a wild ride of an emotional rollercoaster. First the team is forced to trade their second best prospect in Cutter Gauthier, then they go on an epic win streak, and from there, they drop three games in a row, all while finding out that Carter Hart will have to step away from the team indefinitely. Overall, it’s been a very positive season for the organization, but it’s hard to not worry about the things that have gone wrong during the season. Carter Hart came into Philadelphia as the next great hope in net for the organization. Now several years later, Hart has found himself entangled in a sexual assault accusation coming from a 2018 scandal involving several members of Canada’s World Junior roster. Things are still in the air for now, but speculation is running rampant as five players, Hart included, have, presumably, left their respective teams to deal with the situation. The London Police Service have issued a statement that they will have a press conference on February 5th regarding the situation. For now the fanbase and organization await the results of the investigation. However, with the emergence of Samuel Ersson and a slew of very talented goalies in the prospect pool, the Flyers are in a good position to deal with losing Hart in the long term, but in the short term it’s a big blow to the organization and to Hart personally. While Cutter Gauthier didn’t want to be part of this organization that saw Jamie Drysdale come to town, everyone else seems to be fully onboard with what this organization is doing. They just need things to go their way.

On this episode of Gettin’ Gritty Wit It, Yariv and Vasili welcome recurring guest of the show and prospect expert Steve Kournianos.
