Tyler Pitlick was unfamiliar to most Flyers fans, when the orange and black announced that Chuck Fletcher traded Ryan Hartman to Dallas in exchange for Pitlick. Fast forward to this season, and it’s like what doesn’t Pitlick do right!!! The 28-year-old in Pitlick, “They love me, and I love them back,” Pitlick says in regards to Flyers fans, “They appreciate the big hits. It’s nice hearing them cheer. My family is enjoying the city, and the players have been great. I’m very happy.”
Pitlick definitely has earned this promotion to the third line, with a line that consists of JVR, Laughton, and Pitlick. Pitlick works his butt off consistently, and his engine never stops. He provides energy, and can pot a big goal at times.
The well versed Pitlick does everything the coaching staff asks of him, and does it well. Mike Yeo wants him to play the Penalty Kill no problem, Vigneault wants him to finish his checks no problem. Pitlick can play in the top nine or six if he is asked, as well, “Tyler works hard,” Vigneault said on Thanksgiving day, “He does a little bit of everything. He kills penalties, finishes his checks, gives energy, he does everything we ask him to do. Can he play in the bottom nine everyday…well no, but he can do it from time to time as the situation sees fit.” Pitlick enjoys these words from his coach, “Good, feels good to hear that. Sometimes when you don’t score as many points as the other guys sometimes the little things go unnoticed. It’s nice to hear when that’s appreciated. You have to have energy, it’s great.”
Will Pitlick play in the top nine for the rest of the season? Who knows, whatever the case maybe for Pitlick, he will do anything the coaching staff asks with no complaints. Pitlick is the definition of a true Professional.
