As our legendary very own Jamey Baskow pointed out in a earlier piece the Flyers and Phantoms have a cousin connection amongst their rosters. The adored by fans, as he should be, Kevin Hayes is a cousin with none other than the Lehigh Valley Phantoms game winning scorer in game one Ryan Fitzgerald. If it was not for Fitzgerald the Phantoms might not of won game one. Maybe he can quickly become a Phantoms fan favorite as his cousin Hayes did with the Flyers.

This is just a cool connection and also a nice AHL veteran pickup for the Phantoms. Fitzgerald is a former fourth round pick by the Boston Bruins and the son of Tom Fitzgerald. So safe to say he knows the pros like the back of his hand. He is going to hit the 200’s game pro mark in the AHL soon as he has played in 197 career AHL games, according to Phantoms 365 App. Early congratulations to him for 200 games in the AHL. In that span he has 44 goals and 60 assists. So like Mueller he does not only bring leadership qualities, but skill as well.

The Phantoms have great youngsters on their roster due to the Flyers exciting prospects in the pipeline. All they needed was some veteran additions to bring more winning experience and experience in general into the locker room. The Phantoms have done a very nice job of assembling a good complete team with all the veteran additions they made. Ryan Fitzgerald is just another prime example. Cheer to Fitz for winning game one. Now if he can keep being clutch, he sure as heck will quickly become a fan favorite. Thanks for the read all, stay safe and Go Phantoms.Â
