The Flyers have avenged their eight game losing streak, and they beat an outstanding New York Rangers team 4-1. Shall we say, a deep New York team in every facet of the game. The eight game losing streak had to end at some point right!!!!

Of course, the everyone knows that the Flyers have had issues with scoring recently, but practically all season. The issues have become prevalent on the eight game losing streak, to which the Flyers only mustered 18 goals, while allowing 42 goals.

They weren’t going to win many games with bad Goaltending numbers, and the blame wasn’t solely on the Goaltenders. Flyers Goaltenders had a combined 5.25 GAA with a .791 Save Percentage during the eight game losing streak. It WASN’T just the Goaltending’s fault, but it was carrying the orange and black earlier in the season.

Playoffs? Right now the Flyers are on the outside looking in, but not eliminated. If the flyers can keep on winning, they can get back in the playoff hunt. It’s a three horse race to the finish with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings, and the Washington Capitals. I do not include the New York Islanders in this bunch, as they only need one point to eliminate the Flyers from achieving third place in the Metropolitan Division.

Cam York became the fourth Flyers defenseman in the past 30 years to record a double digit goal total at age 23 or younger. What an impressive season it has been for Yorkie, and he has taken the next step under Coach John Tortorella and Brad Shaw, “Yorkie has turned into a stud as a player,” John Tortorella said yesterday before the game.

The Flyers have to win their next two games at home against the Devils and Capitals. This is a must, or they face elimination from the playoffs.
