It’s never easy losing your number one Center, and one that plays so well offensively, as well as, defensively. Sean Couturier left the Flyers game in the first period after just his second shift of the game, and did not return last night in the Flyers 5-2 victory over their rivals in the Pittsburgh Penguins. Following the game Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault said that Couturier would have an MRI today.

The Flyers faithful prayed, and they prayed hard. Well, for their efforts the praying paid off in the big way as Flyers’ General Manager announced that Couturier would be sidelined for two weeks:

“Philadelphia Flyers forward Sean Couturier will be out a minimum of two weeks with a Costochondral separation.”- Chuck Fletcher

Our immediate thoughts are thank God it’s not serious, even though it sounds serious the Flyers can withstand a minimum two-week injury to Couturier due to the depth of the Flyers farm system. This means Morgan Frost is the next man up, and the Flyers they also have some movement within the Taxi Squad roster. Maybe Fletcher wants to carry an extra Forward with the likes of Carsen Twarynski, Samuel Morin, and Connor Bunnaman.

Whatever the case may be Couturier is a huge piece to the Flyers overall success. Fortunately, it’s not a shoulder rather his rib cage, but either way it’s very painful. As Coots goes, do does the Flyers.
