After a great win against the New York Rangers, the Flyers were back at it against a six win team in the Buffalo Sabres. Carter Hart has been officially listed as a healthy scratch for the next two games. Will that pay off? Let’s get into it.

Captain Claude to the rescue

A game where the Flyers needed all hands on deck and the leader to take the team by storm. Claude Giroux scored the second goal to cut the deficit to one goal in the third period. A tough play also in the overtime where Giroux almost gives up the puck, he stays with it, and is able to get the puck to TK to set up a beautiful finish by Ivan Provorov to seal the deal. Great game by “Captain Claude”.

Provorov; hands like the win(d)

A great in the overtime session, where Konecny set up Provorov to score the game winner. The smooth back hand to forehand, back to the backhand just to get the puck right in. It was a smooth play and something you don’t see much from a defenseman. Great play by Giroux, TK, and Provy.

A surprise benching?

I am all for accountability, when a player struggles or really seems to not have his “game face” on. The player must be handled. However, the Flyers best player in Joel Farabee was benched for an entire period, along with Nolan Patrick and Oskar Lindblom. Alain Vigneault shortened the bench and sat his top guy. It’s a huge statement to be done. I’m no coach, but what a bold move. The Flyers certainly wouldn’t want to not play players like Farabee, Patrick, etc. The veteran players stepped up, but you want your young guys contributing. Don’t burn the Vet fuel if you don’t have too. This is something to think about moving forward.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
