The Delaware Thunder have struggled this season to win some hockey games, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t trying. Nor does that mean they aren’t a fun hockey team to watch, actually it’s the exact opposite.

After attending Sunday’s game against the Carolina Thunderbirds as a member of the press for the Thunder, this team fought tooth and nail, and obviously lost in overtime 8-7. After four fights, to include one involving the Thunderbird netminder, it was obvious this Thunder team are filled with camaraderie.

It is easy to pack it in during a tough season like this, but this team is apparently a family, “All of us are just great friends, away from the rink we are always around each other,” Thunder star Ryan Marker said following the game on Sunday. “We are a family, so we like to protect each other, hold each other accountable. I call all of these players my brothers.”

“Lots of New faces from a few weeks ago, but it appears we are gelling,” Justin LaPorte also said following the game on Sunday. If one was in attendance, you would instantly notice this. Each player hits, bangs their sticks on the boards with enthusiasm after a big hit or nice play, they are talking to each other on the bench. The Thunder appear to be playing with a sense of pride, even though this season may not have gone as planned.

Thunder fans continue to support this team through the hard times, and not. The good news is this team continues to fight for one another, and are playing for the logo on the front of the jersey.

  1. I try to go to every home game and freaking love it win or lose, I just found out about the thunder this year and am by no means someone who knows alot about hockey, but I can say thunder play with tons of heart and make it very exciting for their fans.
