The Thunder had many unknowns when the team was first founded last year. First and foremost, how would the community embrace this team? Boy!!! The people of the “First State” come out in full force for their new found hockey team. Selling out the first game, and many other games after that. Owner, President, and General Manager, Charles Pens Sr. believed a packed house on a nightly basis would make it a tough place to play against, and he was right as the Thunder played competitive hockey for the majority of the season. Fight after fight would ensue on most nights, at times it was like Good Ole’ Fashioned pond hockey with the “Broad Street Bullies” on the ice.

Looking ahead to next season, the Thunder have really bolstered their blue line in a big way with an addition of a Philadelphia native in J.C. Moritz, and I’m pretty sure Moritz is a huge Flyers fan. However, yesterday the Thunder boasted their goaltending depth with the addition of an NCAA Prospect Anthony Pupplo.

Pupplo played three seasons for Neumann University, and the Thunder are very familiar with former Neumann players. For instance, fellow Thunder player J.C. Moritz played for Neumann University, and former Thunder Forward Ryan Marker also played for Neumann University. Pupplo is a solid, athletic goaltender who appears to be a good skater. He makes himself big inn the net, and Pupplo can move laterally post to post very well.

This is a really solid addition for the Thunder. Pupplo played two years at New England College, after transferring from Neumann University. The Thunder needed a reliable goaltender who could possibly steal them games, well they got it in Pupplo. Pupplo it’s played in the men’s league for the past four years, he’s 25-years-old and ready to roll thunder.
