A dazzling playmaker, and one that can pot a goal at anytime in Ryan “Magic” Marker has been traded back to the Delaware Thunder for future financial considerations. Marker was the first pick by the Delaware Thunder in 2019, a year in which the Thunder became the talk of a small town in Delaware called Harrington.
“I have enjoyed every minute of playing in a Wolves jersey and will have nothing but great memories from my time in Watertown,” Marker said following the trade to the Thunder in a statement I retrieved from the Watertown Wolves. “I am at the point where I want to be closer to home. I recently got married and have most of my family in the Philadelphia area, and ultimately playing in Delaware offers me the opportunity to do the best of both worlds.”
Marker, a native of New Jersey, only played in three games for the Elmira Enforcers during the 2020-21 Federal Prospects Hockey League season, where he tallied three goals and chipped in four assists for seven points.
“Magic” Marker usually puts on a show for fans in attendance, as he pots a beautiful goal after a beautiful goal. He razzles and dazzles, and plays in any situation the coaching staff asks of him. Marker just loves the sport of hockey, as he is a threat while the team is short-handed, plus he is excellent with the man advantage. He wants to keep his eye on the prize of eventually fulfilling his dream of playing in the AHL, and this is one way he could garner attention from that league.
For his efforts, Ryan Marker has received the call of a lifetime as he has been loaned to the Reading Royals, a proud ECHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers. This is the first step in making a case to play in the AHL.
The young 27-year-old in Marker pushes the play, and is physical enough to handle the rigors of a full hockey season in the FPHL. Marker works hard in the summer, weight wise, for physicality purposes. Moreover, he also looks good with the pace of game against most teams, as well. The young man just continues to soar to new heights as each game passes. Marker torched opponents while he was a member of the Delaware Thunder (31g,24a in 30 games played), so it is no reason Charlie Pens Sr. wanted to have a leader in Marker back with the club for next season, before being loaned to Reading.
These type of dedicated players do not come around often. He just wants to play hockey, and has worked too hard to just give up his hopes of finally fulfilling his dream. Marker kills penalties, and is an integral player on the Power Play given his natural abilities with the puck. You want him to lay a big hit…no problem, Marker will do it. Reading is getting a goodie.
