A physical one at the Scope, Teddy Bear Toss Part 1 at Norfolk. The Admirals kicked things off in the first with the teddy bear toss tally, but it was all Reading the rest of the way. Four straight Royals goals, by four different goal scorers, led the way. Joseph Nardi picked up a goal and two assists for Reading, and Maier stopped 24 of the 25 he faced. Both clubs combined for 100 penalty minutes, each club had 50 penalty minutes each. A stupendous power play for Reading, converting on both chances they got in the contest. Jimmy Poreda was the second goaltender of the three that started in the set. Norfolk had 7 power play chances, their lone goal came on the man advantage making them 1 of 7 on the night

Teddy Bear Toss Part 2 at the Scope, Reading capped off the sweep heading into the holiday break. Reading defeated Norfolk by a final of 3-2. Brody Claeys is the third and final goaltender to make the start for the Ads. You could argue Claeys kept them in it, making big saves and kind of contradicting himself by giving up one he probably wished he could’ve had back. Ryan Chyzowski who started hot, cooled down a bit and hadn’t scored since November 8th when he netted the overtime game-winner against these same Admirals. Chyzowski if you remember had 10 goals in 9 games to open the season, and hadn’t scored since that tally against the Winnipeg Affiliate. A chippy contest in downtown Norfolk, with no fights but a bundle of power plays for each club. Ads went 1 of 3 on their chances, Reading 0 for 4. Reading held the struggling offense in the third to just two shots, as Reading held on to the 3-2 win. Jake Bricknell netted the game-winner at 6:38 of regulation, Bricknell was claimed off of waivers earlier this week.
Final: 3-2 Reading
REA – Nolan Maier 24 – SH | 22 – SV | 2 – GA (W)
NOR – Brody Claeys 26 – SH | 23 – SV | 3 – GA (L)

2. Brendan Hoffman – REA
3. Kenny Johnson – REA

Nolan Maier started in net for all three games, he went 3-0-0 with a .889 SV% and an average of 2.33 goals against. He was stupendous in the overtime on Wednesday despite having a rough 60 minutes and spectacular in Friday’s 4-1 win, after giving up the teddy bear toss goal.Â
