“I’m really excited for this new opportunity to join a team, build with them and get a fresh start,” said Owen Tippett when he joined the Flyers. “I’m still working on trying to round out my 200-foot game, but overall I think I can bring offense, size and speed to the lineup. I’m really excited to get going and meet everyone.”

The good thing is, according to Elliotte Friedman Owen Tippett has re-signed with the Flyers for 8-years in the $6 million-$6.5 million AAV range. This is a perfect deal for the young 25-year-old.

Good for Tippett for bringing size, speed, and a nasty wrist shot into the fold. Tippett’s confidence was finally paying dividends for the orange and black, where after a slow start to the season, he really turned it up a notch over the course of the past month or so. Going into yesterday’s game he netted six goals in six games, so he was starting to heat up. Unfortunately, a confident Tippett was injured in the third period and he was not able to return, per Flyers’ General Manager Danny Briere. He was placed on the Injured Reserve list (IR) earlier in the week, to accommodate Cal Petersen being recalled.

It is a lower body injury, and I’m hearing whispers from some close to the situation that he dodged a bullet. More testing needs to be done, but preliminary test indicate that he dodged a bullet.

“It’s been great so far, and I love playing in Philly.” – Owen Tippett

One Flyer who’s game has grown the most from a new change of scenery, and under John Tortorella is Owen Tippett. Even so much so, he has netted a career high in points and goals last season with netting 27 goals and 22 for 49 points in 77 games played. His previous career high was 18 points and seven goals in 2020-21. One can sense he is infused with confidence, and some can see the potential that made him a first round pick in the first place.

Tippett was gaining steam and momentum following a so-so start to the season. He has netted 18 goals and has registered 12 assists in 46 games played. Tippett also has the goal of the year, or goal of the decade for that matter. This will be a big loss for the Flyers, as Tippett has been absolutely on fire, making himself worthy of a top six role, “He’s on the cusp of being something really special,” Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella said following practice on Friday.

A confident ginger in Tippett is a dynamic player offensively. Morgan Frost will definitely have to pick up the dynamic offensive ability that Tippett possesses, until Tippett is healthy enough to return to the lineup.
