The Flyers’ nightmarish season finally comes to an end. A season that started with so much promise ends with endless turmoil and finger pointing. Majority of the fanbase expected the team to take a step forward and continue to compete as one of the top teams int he division. However, to end the season General Manager Chuck Fletcher and Head Coach Alain Vigneault had a press conference that left most Flyers fans shaking their heads. However, if you are a regularly listening of Gettin Gritty Wit It, you would have already heard me echoing these sentiments months in advance. Conditioning was clearly an issue as the team struggled to perform for long stretches and the issue was exacerbated when the team was hit with COVID. Having said that, the team should absolutely be held accountable for the lack of success and need to hear the criticisms lobbed at them. If the fans are unhappy, the team needs to hear it. There is a lot of heart in this city and it can only take being broken so many times over before it shuts down emotionally.

On this episode of Gettin Gritty Wit It, I welcome on the co-founders of the O&B Puckcast Isiah and Chef to bring in some perspective on their thoughts on the press conference. Chef and Isiah have been watching the Flyers for a long time and have been through many of the ups and downs throughout the years. As you will hear on the show, they hold nothing back as the frustration level has hit, understandably, high levels. There is a lot of frustration to go around and, quite frankly, the organization needs to hear the complaints. While some excuses are understandable, it is important for that the organization’s leaders hear what their fans are saying and how frustrated they are with the product on the ice. It hasn’t been easy to deal with the but the team and fans deserve better. Chuck Fletcher has a lot of work to do over the offseason if he wants to get people excited and to bring the team back to relevancy in a short time period.
