E179 – Michkov Shines With HC Sochi & Flyers Rookie Game

The Flyers season is officially upon us and fair to say that fans can now get excited. With the Flyers Rookie camp starting and two back-to-back games against the New York Rangers Rookies, there is finally real hockey to watch. These games will not matter in the standings, be they are an important glimpse into the Flyers draft system and if they have the depth to build from within. Even without NCAA players involved, including budding star Cutter Gauthier and Russian sensation Matvei Michkov, the Flyers still boast a slew of talented young players looking to stand out. Players such as Denver Barkey, Emil Andrae, Tyson Forester, Samu Tuomaala, Alexis Gendron, Elliot Desnoyers, Carson Bjarnason, and others will get big minutes to show how their game has developed against their peers. This isn’t just a measurement for the fans, but it’s an opportunity for players to measure themselves against their competition. Sometimes you need to see how far your competition has come to push you forward and the rookies will be getting a healthy dose of that.

On this episode of Gettin Gritty Wit It, Yariv and Vasili go through the upcoming Flyers Rookie camp, Matvei Michkov’s recent performance with HC Sochi, updates to the Flyers organization as a whole, and who will be the breakout stars for the Flyers this season. Get as excited as Flyers Nitty Gritty is for a season, brimming with potential.
