E160 – Expect The Unexpected

The playoffs are in full effect and so is the begging the quiet period for the Philadelphia Flyers. As Daniel Briere works to hold his interim General Manager title, the rest of the league its planning to get back into the big show, that is the playoffs, next season. With some key personnel decisions hanging over the Flyers’ head with players like Kevin Hayes, Ryan Ellis, Tony DeAngelo, and more the Flyers need to approach their public image with confidence. Just because they are willing to move players does not mean they should behave from a point of desperation. Changes for changes sake very rarely workout and if the Flyers are going to make trades, they need to win those trades or at least get high value. Under former GM, Chuck Fletcher, the fanbase has gotten very used to getting pennies on the dollar for assets or overpaying to move players. These decisions that were made in succession, are a big reason why the Flyers find themselves in their current lackluster position.

On this episode of Gettin Gritty Wit It, Yariv and Vasili dig into the current tense season where the top teams play for the cup and the bottom teams play a lottery for the top pick. With an opportunity at the top pick this year, the Flyers will most likely be aggressive and surgical with their upcoming draft and changes. This is where Briere can live up to his personality as a player and shine. We dig into what could happen leading up to the NHL Entry Draft and the offseason beyond.
