First Period
A bit different than the Phantoms are used to, nobody scored through the first ten minutes, let alone Lehigh Valley usually trailing by two by this point. A little unusual for Lehigh Valley this season they netted the first goal. Elliot Desnoyers tipped Adam Ginning’s shot five hole and it trickled in past Subban at 12:54. Shots for the period were 7-5 in favor of Lehigh Valley.
Second Period
A few penalty kills in the frame and some solid goaltending over halfway through the frame. Springfield who had momentum turned it into a goal. Dylan Coghlan knotted things up with his blast that trickled past Cahagen at 13:52. A fun bounce gives Lehigh Valley the lead back. Ronnie Attard fired a shot off the knob of Subban’s stick the puck flew high in the air, Malcolm lost it and it landed behind him on his back, and into the net it went. Attard’s first goal of the early season came late in the 2nd at the 17:10 mark. Springfield had the momentum most of the frame but the Phantoms regained it late and carried a lead into the 3rd.
Third Period
Olle Lycksell extended the Phantoms’ lead to two, a power play tally his 5th of the weekend at 9:41. Cahagen played crucial as he did all game he let a late power play tally late in the frame but it wouldn’t be enough for Springfield. Adam Gaudette netted the power play tally with 29 seconds remaining in regulation. Gaudette netted the two Springfield goals on Friday night as well, giving him three goals in two games against Lehigh Valley this season.
