First Period

As the evening prior, the Royals and Growlers were scoreless after one. In a heavy-weight fight, 6-foot-6 Spencer Kennedy went toe to toe with Newfoundlands’ 6’5 Serron Noel, Both exchanged heavy blows with Kennedy seeming to come out on top. Shots for the frame were 15-6 in favor of Reading, Dryden McKay kept his team in it stopping all 15 shots and killing off 2 penalties.

Second Period

Growlers looked to do what they did in yesterday evening’s second period but couldn’t get anything past Kucharski. Kucharski faced 11 shots in the frame, stopping all 17 he faced for the game to this point. Newfoundland had two power-play chances, their second chance had 15 seconds left carried over to the 3rd, and it would be killed off.

Third Period

Jackson Berezowski opened up the scoring, and the first tally of the game came on the rush his second of the early season at 12:15. Just over a minute later Reading responded. Yvan Mongo netted his first of the season on a 3-on-2 rush tally at 13:18. The Royals would have multiple chances on the man advantage including a 5-on-3, but Dryden McKay shut them down. McKay stopped 12 of the 13 shots he saw in the period and 34 of the 35 for the game. Shots through regulation were 35-22 in favor of Reading.

Overtime

Kucharski made several stellar saves that could’ve been the game-winner which were denied. The Royals netminder could only do so much, Jackson Berezowski on the feed from Tyler Weiss nets the game-winner 2:03 into the overtime session.
