The Flyers had to dig deep against the Florida Panthers. they started out a bit sluggish after returning to action following the All-Star break. Florida outshot the orange and black at one point 6-0, so Samuel Ersson had to stand tall. However, the Panthers did lead after one period of play 1-0.

Starting off on the right foot in the second period was a plan for the Flyers, especially after Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella was pissed and disgusted after the first period of play. They managed to tie the game early in the second with Travis Konecny’s 23rd goal of the season. He just continues to excel.

“Erss gives us a chance in the first period to get our legs going,” Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella said following the game. “I’m just glad we won. For our athletes we need to get some swagger back, some confidence…do you understand how good we can be if we play that way.”

It was a great third period for the orange and black. Ersson finished the game with saving 20 shots on 21 shots faced, which was good enough for a .952 Save Percentage. Noah Cates scored the game winning goal, and it felt good, “It felt good. I just want to help this team,” Cates said following the game.

The Flyers do have a day off today, and will have a 1030am morning skate on Thursday, before they host a very good Winnipeg Jets team at home. Overall, this was a big, great victory against a good Florida Panthers team, “Erss was great, especially in that first period,” Joel Farabee said after the game.
