Matvei Michkov has reported dropping to 176 pounds with 10.6% body fat.

In a recent YouTube interview (translated and clipped by Russian-hockey account (@Uggg_uggg), Michkov said he came into last year’s camp at around 205 pounds thinking he was in great shape, but “turns out life ain’t that simple.” He’s now at 176 pounds. Michkov specifically notes the InBody body-fat test result of 10.6%.
That’s a roughly 29-pound drop from the previous year’s reported weight. Official roster listings still often show him around 172 lbs (his listed weight has hovered near there historically), but the self-reported numbers from the interview are the ones circulating.Context: Conditioning and body composition were major talking points around his 2025-26 season (sophomore year). He arrived out of shape relative to team standards, dealt with the process of losing weight then rebuilding strength, and faced public comments from coach Rick Tocchet.

This offseason he trained intensively in Russia (with a Flyers coach present for a stretch, multiple sessions a day, nutrition focus, and work alongside players like Artemi Panarin). The leaner frame and 10.6% body fat (a solid range for an elite athlete) are being viewed as positive signs heading into training camp and what is effectively a contract year.
Flyers fans and reporters have been reacting positively to the visible commitment after last year’s issues.
