Matvei Michkov is clearly the biggest bright spot for the Flyers right now. Through 15 games he has nine goals and two assists (11 points). Those nine goals have placed him tied for 5th in the entire NHL in goal scoring.

Michkov’s doing it on a team that’s otherwise struggling badly offensively (the Flyers rank near the bottom of the league in goals per game). A big chunk of his production has come recently — he has 7 goals in his last 7 games — and several have been on the power play. His shooting percentage is extremely high right now (around 43%), so some regression is likely, but the fact that a 21-year-old is still producing at this level while the rest of the roster is underwater is impressive.
Unfortunately, Michkov’s one of the very few consistent positives in what has otherwise been a rough start to the season for Philadelphia.
