Joseph Woll’s newest goalie mask (as of mid-September 2026) is a Flyers design painted by DaveArt (David Gunnarsson), featuring a fiery Balrog/Lord of the Rings theme.
Woll was traded from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Flyers in June 2026. The mask incorporates intense volcanic/lava elements, flames in orange and black (Flyers colors), a brick-wall motif, and a prominent demonic Balrog figure (fiery creature from The Lord of the Rings) on the side. Process videos from DaveArt show the paint work in progress, including the mountain/lava top, brick details near the cage, and the full Balrog scene with glowing effects.
But he sported a different mask yesterday for the start of camp, and it was a Philadelphia themed mask, a photo captured by our very own Rob Windfelder (Who was present at camp yesterday):
Woll’s new mask was spotted in Flyers practice (he had still been using a prior blue Toronto mask earlier in the week).
- March 2026 (Toronto Maple Leafs / St. Patrick’s): A green “monster wolf/beast” design continuing his earlier wolf theme, with fangs, fur, and shamrocks (“lucky and lethal”).
- May 2026 (Team USA): American eagles theme linking back to his early pro masks, with stars, speed, and icy blue vibes.
- Earlier Leafs designs included a Cujo/Curtis Joseph-inspired wolf (2024-25), mountain/meditation themes (with Mont Blanc, Troll’s Tongue, Northern Lights elements), eagles, and brick-wall motifs.
