Jack Nesbitt, the Flyers’ first-round pick (12th overall) from the 2025 NHL Draft, has officially committed to the University of Michigan Wolverines for the 2026-27 NCAA season.

Quick context:

  • Background: The 6’4/6’5 Center from Sarnia, Ontario, spent the last few seasons with the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL. He had a strong year with 25 goals and 58+ points in the regular season, plus solid playoff production.
  • The commitment: Rumors had been circulating for weeks after reports from Jeff Marek in mid-April that Nesbitt committed to Michigan. Nesbitt’s joining fellow 2025 first-rounders like Michael Hage (returning), Cameron Reid (Nashville), and others, making Michigan’s roster look very deep and NHL-caliber.
  • Why it matters for the Flyers: This is a common development path for top prospects (e.g., similar to Porter Martone). Playing against strong competition in the Big Ten should accelerate his growth before turning pro.
