Jack Nesbitt, the Flyers’ first-round pick (12th overall) from the 2025 NHL Draft, has officially committed to the University of Michigan Wolverines for the 2026-27 NCAA season.
Quick context:
- Background: The 6’4/6’5 Center from Sarnia, Ontario, spent the last few seasons with the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL. He had a strong year with 25 goals and 58+ points in the regular season, plus solid playoff production.
- The commitment: Rumors had been circulating for weeks after reports from Jeff Marek in mid-April that Nesbitt committed to Michigan. Nesbitt’s joining fellow 2025 first-rounders like Michael Hage (returning), Cameron Reid (Nashville), and others, making Michigan’s roster look very deep and NHL-caliber.
- Why it matters for the Flyers: This is a common development path for top prospects (e.g., similar to Porter Martone). Playing against strong competition in the Big Ten should accelerate his growth before turning pro.

Big get for Michigan— they’re building a loaded lineup. Go Blue (or Go Flyers, depending on your allegiance)
