The Flyers re-signed Restricted Free Agent Defenseman Hunter McDonald to a two-year, two-way/one-way contract on August 18, 2026, with an average annual value (AAV)/cap hit of $912,500 (total value $1.825 million).

Key details:

  • Year 1 (2026-27) is a two-way deal (NHL salary around $900K; minors salary lower, with some guaranteed money reported).
  • Year 2 (2027-28) is a one-way deal (NHL rate regardless of where he plays).
  • He was the Flyers’ last remaining RFA to sign this offseason.

McDonald (born May 11, 2002; 6’4, 238 pounds, left-shot) is a stay-at-home, physical Defenseman and the Flyers’ 2022 sixth-round pick (165th overall).

In 2025-26 he recorded six assists and 92 PIM in 65 AHL games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, then made his NHL debut in the season finale vs. Montreal on April 14, 2026 (One assist, +3). Career AHL totals: 27 points (4G-23A) in 147 games played.

McDonald is expected to compete for an NHL roster spot at Training Camp while remaining a depth/prospect option who can also play in the AHL.
