First Period

Much different from last night when we had a goal in each period, tonight both teams failed to find the back of the net in the first frame. Reading had the lone power-play opportunity on the Jacob Modry, holding minor, but failed to convert. Maier stopped all 6 shots he faced, along with Peska on Newfoundland’s end stopping the 5 he saw.

Second Period

Growlers came out firing in the 2nd period, netting three goals before the halfway mark of the period. Grant Cruikshank netted the first one at 3:04, a power play tally for his second in as many nights. Neil Shea put a crooked number on the board off the feed from Brock Caufield at 7:35. Speaking of Caufield he put Newfoundland up 3, his second goal in two nights at 9:28. Growlers all over Reading in the period, outshot the Royals 11-8 and shutting down every Reading scoring chance they had. Growlers had 3 power play opportunities in the period, converted on one of them, that being the first call.

Third Period

Ryan Chyzowski who scored twice in the season opener the night prior, put the Royals on the board with his third in two nights at 4:16. The Royals had multiple chances but couldn’t find the back of the net, Peksa had all the answers. Neil Shea capped off the Growlers’ win with his second of the night an empty netter at 19:07
