The Flyers will have three prospects representing their respective countries at the 2021 World Junior Championship in Edmonton, Alberta. Defenseman Cam York and winger Bobby Brink will represent Team USA, while defenseman Emil Andre will represent Team Sweden.

Cam York- USA

For those who don’t know, the Flyers drafted York 14th overall in the 2019 NHL Draft. York, currently in his sophomore season with the University of Michigan of the NCAA, is a skilled defenseman who has put up two goals and three assists for five total points in eight games played. He has also been playing on the top-defensive pairing for the Wolverines.

York suited up for Team USA at the World Juniors tournament last year, playing five games and posting no points. But this year he is in for a test, as he has hit the gym this past offseason and has got much stronger all around. Flyers fans will be able to see how much he has developed and how he can perform at the international level.

Bobby Brink- USA

The Flyers drafted forward Bobby Brink 34th overall in the 2019 NHL Draft. He is currently playing for the University of Denver, and so far this season, has posted three points in three games played. Brink is a skilled forward with a high hockey IQ, who knows the offensive game very well. When the Flyers drafted him, scouts were concerned about his skating abilities, but as of now, it looks to be an improving area of his game.

Like York, Brink also played for Team USA at the tournament last year. He put up a goal and an assist for two points in five games. Brink has a decent tournament overall, but he was mainly a star for the Denver Pioneers in their 2019-20 season. With a strong showing of 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in 28 games, Brink was named to the NCHC All-Rookie Team and was also named a finalist for the NCHC Rookie of the Year.

Emil Andrae- Sweden

Andrae was drafted by the Flyers in the second-round of the 2020 NHL Draft. He is known to be an undersized, smart defenseman, who plays with confidence and toughness. Andrae, currently playing in the SHL with HV71, has posted three assists in 20 games this season. Last season, Andrae played 40 games in the J20 SuperElit league, scoring 11 goals and 27 assists for 38 total points.

This upcoming tournament will be Andrae’s first time competing at the U20 level. From looking at his stats, he has shown to be a point-producer at the international stage. Last year, he captained the U18 Sweden’s at the International-Jr, posting a goal and 11 assists for 12 points in 13 games played.
