Oskar Lindblom has had his fair share of ups and downs this season, more ups than downs as he beat Cancer, “I did my scans again yesterday and they came back good,” Oskar Lindblom said last Thursday night. “So still cleared from cancer. It’s a great feeling to know that and hopefully keep it the same and be cancer free for the rest of my life.”

Lindblom has looked a little more like his self with board battling, and battling for pucks in general, “It’s everything,” Lindblom said a few weeks ago, “I can’t really say something specific. I feel like I still need to be stronger, and to be strong on the puck and do my thing out there, get in front of the net and do the small stuff that I need to do to be on top of my game.”

The 24-year-old in Lindblom has struggled to gain his consistency back, but this should have been expected with all the trials and tribulations he dealt with last year. He tallied a big goal against the New York Islanders on March 22, 2021, as he is trying to develop some consistency. Lindblom only has five goals and five assists in 29 games played, but he provides heart and he wants the team to get back on track, “I think every time we let in a goal, we kind of fall apart it doesn’t matter if we let up one goal we are still in the game,” Lindblom said. “We let it go on 2,3 and just keep going. We scored 2 goals but it’s just too late. We can’t have 6-0 and then start playing. We have to find our game here again and start to play like a group. We can’t play 1 on 1. We have to find it quicker.”

Of course, he could get bigger and stronger. However, his skating has improved from the beginning of the season, while his heart has remained the same. He just wants to win, and be able to help his teammates win the game at hand. Lindblom remains effective in puck management, and taking hits to make the play, or extending the play. This critical aspect of the game cannot be understated.

Let’s be patient with Lindblom as he currently works himself back into form. He has earned our patience in more ways than one. Lindblom will get back to the player he once was, he just needs our support in doing such.
