The Flyers season is slowly but surely coming to a close. On Thursday night though, they’ll be getting one of there young forwards back in the lineup when the Flyers visit the red hot New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

Nolan Patrick is expected to return to the lineup after being held out of the last two games for precautionary reasons after being struck in the side of the head by some friendly fire this past Thursday against the Penguins.

Patrick left the game and did not return.

After missing all of last season with a migrane disorder, it was awful tough to see Patrick get hit where he did. He’s had some tough luck with injuries early on his career.

The reasoning for holding Patrick out this weekend was seemingly more precautionary than anything. The Flyers wanted to make sure that Patrick didn’t show any signs of concussion symptoms before reinserting him back into the lineup.

Patrick has struggled since returning from his long absence.

In 42 games this season, the 22-year-old forward has potted only four goals and registered only eight points.

Career wise, Patrick has played 187 games in a Flyers uniform. He’s registered 69 points in that span scoring 30 goals and assisting on 39 others. He’s also played in six playoff games recording a goal and an assist.

A strong finish to the 2021 season could be beneficial for Patrick.

The hope would be that the strong finish would carry on over into next season.

Patrick will become a restricted free agent this summer after accepting his one-year qualifying offer from the Flyers worth $874,125 back in October of 2020.
