Answer: I started playing at age four and I was always intrigued by older players and really loved Pavel Bure when I was young.
Question: What do you like most about the position you play and what kind of playing style do you bring to a team?
Answer: I love the freedom I have on the wing and the ability to make plays. I bring tons of energy and skill to the lineup and try to be a spark plug anytime I get on the ice and create momentum for my team.
Question: Can you reflect on your season with the Portland Winterhawks?
Answer: It started slow for both myself and the team a little bit but we quickly picked it up and became very good and for myself after Christmas I really took a big step and took off for the 2nd half of the season and put myself in a really good spot going into the draft.
Question: Who were your best influences during the season? Did anyone give you advice during your draft year?
Answer: Cody Glass was massive for me not only on the ice but more so off the ice with interviews and talking to teams and how to handle myself in the aspect of the season making it as easy for me as possible he was massive for me.
Question: Since the coronavirus pandemic, what have you been doing to stay as healthy as possible?
Answer: Well lucky for me living in Manitoba the virus was very minimal and wasn’t very many cases so gyms and rinks have been open for almost 2 months now so I’m into a groove now with training and skating but before I was training at home everyday and was able to make big strides in my fitness before.
Question: Oh wow that’s great. Have you been working with a trainer? And have you been able to improve any areas surrounding your game during this time?
Answer: Yup I’ve been with the same trainer for two years now and it’s been great for my game and I’ve been improving me overall top speed as well as explosiveness
Question: You have moved up on draft rankings throughout the year. I have even seen you listed at #7. Does that mean anything to you seeing your name move up on the draft rankings?
Answer: Yeah it means a lot I think of myself as someone who is underrated and maybe goes under the radar but when I see that it’s nice to get some recognition for my season but I use it all as motivation to train harder everyday and play with a chip on my shoulder when people have me lower in the rankings.
Question: What kind of role do you see yourself playing in the NHL one day?
Answer: I see myself as someone who brings offence and energy to a team similar to Braydon Point and Mitch Marner but can also be trusted on the PK and in late situations to defend a lead.

Question: Lastly, what pushes you through the hard times in hockey?
Answer: I grew up playing on outdoor rinks my whole life and that’s what keeps me from getting down, just remembering the times when nothing mattered and you can go out in the winter with my buddies and mess around that’s what keeps me coming back it comes down to the purity and fun of hockey and how it’s meant to be played.
Question: Thank you so much for your time. I appreciate it. Best of luck with what’s to come.
